Welcome to the Oakland Bay Chapter of
Back Country Horsemen of Washington!
Our Mission is: To perpetuate the common sense use of horses and mules in America’s back country and wilderness, to work to ensure that public lands remain open to recreational stock use, to assist the various governmental and private agencies in their maintenance and management of said resource, to educate , encourage, and solicit active participation in the wise use of the back country resource by horsemen and the general public commensurate with our heritage, to foster and encourage new members in Oakland Bay Chapter of BCHW.

- If you're interested in trail riding, campouts, great potluck food, socializing and doing your part to assure continued recreational opportunities on our public lands, then this just might be the organization for you.
- If you are in the Northwest Thurston and Mason county area and enjoy horses and /or mules and the great outdoors, we’d like to welcome you.
- If you want to explore making a difference by learning and teaching methods of responsible use of our public lands and have a great time in the process.
- Our Chapter activities include creation and maintenance of riding trails, educational activities such as classes in Leave No Trace practices and Chainsaw Certification. We have chapter sponsored trail rides for the chapter and friends as well as campouts. Chapter business meetings, potluck dinners, parades, fairs, yearly Rendezvous, and in general having a good time with folks that share our interests.
